This is a chic and beautiful Maru obi with a woven pattern of auspicious birds and paulownia crests, featuring a full pattern on both sides.
A "Maru obi" is a very substantial obi, made by folding a wide fabric (approx. 70cm wide) with a luxurious pattern woven throughout into two, inserting obi lining, and sewing one side. In the past, it was used for formal kimonos such as bridal attire and tomesode.
